Gordon Pearce

January 1, 2000

Chairman Jim Chappell is saddened to report the death of long time Supporters Club member Gordon Pearce who passed away in St. Peter’s Hospice last Thursday after a long and painful battle against cancer.

Gordon was a founder member of the teenage ‘Pirates’ organisation that was set up by the Supporters Club in the 1960’s and he served on its committee along with Jim, Chairman Gordon Bennett and representatives of the Football Club at the time such as Manager Bert Tann, Secretary Ron Moules and S.C. Director Eric Godfrey. After standing down from the committee Gordon became famous for setting-up his brainchild, the ’92 Club’, an organisation that continues today to serve those who, like Gordon, have witnessed a game at every ground in the Football League and latterly the Premiership.

Gordon was a real character who will be greatly missed by all the many Rovers fans who knew him and the Supporters Club sends its sincere condolences to his wife Elizabeth, daughter Dawn and all the rest of his family at this very sad time.

¬†Gordon’s funeral will be at Bristol South Crematorium on Friday 7th at 4.30pm. (No flowers please, any donations to St. Peter’s Hospice).
