The Alba 42 Football Tour

21 – 28 July 2010

“How do you find a less physical way of raising money for charity?”

Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent is the only charity that offers them all round care and support. Caring every step of the way, CLIC Sargent acts as a lifeline keeping families together when the unimaginable happens. They provide clinical, emotional and financial care and support to them and their families

Having raised money over the last few years for CLIC Sargent cycling through Kenya, Vietnam, Peru and India, it was time to take stock and consider a more leisurely alternative. Being keen Bristol Rovers supporters, Richard Stinchcomb and Maurice Bye wanted to do something with a football theme.

Sat on a plane returning from a football trip to Valencia, encouraged by Mr and Mrs Donnie Gillies (ex professional footballer with Morton and Bristol Rovers) who were sat in front of them, they are now embarking on The Alba 42 Football Tour.

Richard and Maurice are flying to Inverness from Bristol, grabbing a car and driving 1,100 miles from Dingwall to Stranraer to Berwick, visiting all 42 Scottish football grounds. And a stop at The Tunnock’s Factory en route for light refreshments!

They are inviting individual sponsorship via the website www.virginmoneygiving.com/alba42 and would be very grateful for anything you could contribute.

The Alba 42 Football Tour is self-funded with all profit going to CLIC Sargent. They are deducting no costs or expenses.
