Euro court: World Cup to stay on terrestrial TV
Football fans in the UK will still be able to watch World Cup and European Championship games on terrestrial TV thanks to a ruling by the European General Court. FIFA and UEFA had both challenged legislation which allows the UK government to protect sport’s so-called “crown jewels” and ensures they remain on free-to-air TV rather than subscription only. However, the EGC dismissed FIFA and UEFA’s actions which is good news for fans.
