Gas Greats Delight The Fans

January 1, 2000

Yesterday, Gasheads were delighted to meet ex players who came to the Mem signing copies of the latest must-have hand book, ‘Bristol Rovers Greats’. Fans queued patiently in line in the Bristol Room in the clubhouse to meet the legends of yesteryear and take home a memento of their day meeting some of the great players to wear the famous blue and white quarters. The book, released this week, features high quality pictures and player profiles of Rovers players from all decades and is the perfect Christmas present for the Gashead who has everything. [image2]

Our thanks go to the following ex players who came along and signed for fans for over an hour as they queued patiently;

Peter Aitken, Alfie Biggs, Joe Davis, Harold Jarman, Phil Purnell, Carl Saunders, who was also at the Mem backing the Kick It Out Racism awareness day, and Stuart Taylor, they made a lot of people’s day by coming along and the day only got better with a home win to round it off.

Publishers Redcliffe in conjunction with the Evening Post have done a good job producing an easy to read and comprehensive update on the original from some years ago which includes an ‘on the bench’ section at the back. [image3]

Sales were brisk and the Supporters Club have a limited number of signed copies available, so if you want a signed copy and were unable to get to yesterday’s match, either call or visit  Pirate Leisure for your copy or visit the club’s online shop as numbers are very limited.

On a personal note, I was delighted when Harold Jarman agreed to join Steve Hoyle and I in our commentary position to help with summarising for Hospital Radio. [image4]

The Supporters Club are looking at the possibility of getting another day organised for further signings if it can be arranged. We will announce further details on here when they are available.
