Women’s Premier League Cup Draw News

The draw for the 2nd round of the womens Premier League Cup was made this afternoon.
Bristol Academy, having won through yesterday after beating Leeds Ladies 2-1 away got another away draw against Watford to be played on Sunday 9th October. Watford beat Sothampton 3-0 and are currently 4th in the Sothern Section with 7 points from 4 games. The girls face Leeds away again this Sunday in the Womens Premier League.
Meanwhile, the Reserves have got off to a flying start in the Southern Section of the FA Women’s Premier Reserve League.
Last week they travelled to the East End and beat West Ham 3-2 with goals from Leanne Kerton, Kelly Hall and Kayleigh Greeing. Kayleigh was rewarded for her efforts with a seat on the bench when the first team triumphed at Leeds United on Sunday in the FAWPL Cup.
Whilst she was in the North of England, the Reserves had a field day against their counterparts from AFC Wimbledon. Clare Trafford weighed in with four on target and Leanne Kerton was again on the scoresheet as she bagged a brace. Leanne Burge also had a couple with Jodie Hennessy and Rebecca Tweed completing a 10-0 rout.
This week the Reserves travel down to the South Coast to take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
UPDATE! Since writing this article, Brighton and Hove Albion reserve team have withdrawn from the league. This means this Sunday’s away match and the return fixture in February are both now cancelled.
