225 Gasheads enjoyed a day out in the Lake District last Saturday, after an away win against the formbook. Nobody could begrudge us the two own goals as after going behind to an early goal, after we’d settled it was really all Rovers. Junior’s sweet lob over the keeper to wrap it up in injury time was no more than the team deserved.
Supporters are delighted to see a new surge of enthusiasm from our team and are largely backing Paul Trollope.
It is good to report that fans are being well represented in the boardroom by our two elected fans directors Jane Browne and Kim Stuckey. The are acting as a good sounding board for the fans and their input into recent decision making has been of real value to the fans they represent. Their input into the management situation recently was very helpful to their colleagues in the boardroom and they are also playing their part in helping with selection process going on at present. (And keeping very tight lipped too!)
The Supporters Club committee met this week for it’s monthly meeting. Following on from last week’s open meeting at Filton’s new WISE building, there was plenty of feedback to discuss.
Those that went to the Bristol half marathon last weekend may well have noticed some runners in Rovers colours. This was the group organised by Ken Masters from the commercial sub committee running to raise money for a crèche at the Mem and also raising money for sports equipment for local schools. The Supporters club would like to congratulate them all for the way in which they represented Gasheads last Sunday.
Meanwhile on the website, www.bristolroverssc.co.uk, we have been running a competition to win a training shirt. This ended last Friday and the winner was announced at the match yesterday. The lucky winner was Steve Skinner from Kingswood. Congratulations to him.
Due to a renewed demand, we are expecting a final batch of blue and white wristbands to come into stock within the next few days. This will be the final batch and no more will be ordered, so get yours pre ordered if you don’t want to miss out. Meanwhile we still have stock of the blue and yellow ones and the pink and blue ones, though they are selling well still.
This Thursday the 13th sees Phil Draper’s legendary quiz in the Bristol room at the Mem. The quiz starts at 7.30 and it is happy hour in the bar until 7.00, so if you’ve not been before why not go along and have a go? Additionally, both the England games are being televised live on the big screen at the Mem on Saturday and Wednesday, giving an alternative to the crowded pubs if you want to watch the matches.
Finally, an update for Gasheads planning to attend the Peterborough LDV match away; the website lists the Kingswood coach depart time as 200pm but it is actually 1.30 pm. Sadly, the current programming recognises that the departure times are normally the same for the two departure points, but as we are only taking one coach, that is why the times are different. The programming is being worked on and should be rectified in the next few days,so sorry for any confusion this has caused.
