With no match this week it’s also been a week off for us at the Supporters club too. If the rest of the committee had a weekend like me, it would have been getting in a few brownie points with some DIY on a rare Saturday at home.

The Supporters club committee met on Thursday night for the first monthly meeting of the New Year. First business of the night was to elect officers for the key posts on the executive committee. Those that performed the roles last year remain in place for this year too having been proposed and seconded, and all those re-elected have been set challenges to set out objectives they will be judged on at the end of the year, so the pressure is on!

We currently have no chair for two sub committees, the Commercial committee and the Match Day committee. We are currently seeking suitable candidates to co-opt onto the Executive committee to take up these positions. Both positions demand a real commitment and dedication to help the club, and any individual possessing appropriate skills in these areas would have an advantage. If YOU are interested in helping in these areas, please contact us via either 199, Pirate Leisure, or by email via our web site, bristolroverssc.co.uk.

Supporters Club member Ian Pugh was invited along to the meeting. Ian has spent the last year doing a fact find into updating our I T systems within our retail operation. Ian has spent considerable time investigating how other club’s retail operations work and fact-finding to ascertain what we do well and what we can improve on. His findings revealed in the main we are better than most in what we do and with some small changes can get even better. With our I T now showing it’s age, Ian’s input into what is needed to modernise our operation has been most valuable and we publicly thank him for all his hard work.

Having been impressed by his presentation and recommendations, we will shortly be ordering all we need to completely up date our point of sale and back room equipment which will be of real benefit to our customers. We will be making an announcement in due course, but this decision is one of the biggest financial decisions the Supporters Club has made for some years and really moves us forward for the years ahead.

We have had many fans asking what the Supporters Club will be doing in memory of Ray Kendall. We need to give consideration to what is most appropriate and ensure what plans the football club may have too, so after this matter is discussed fully, we will make an announcement as to how we approach this in due course.

Finally, I will be helping the BBC at future matches with 3G match reports on behalf of the Supporters Club. This will involve giving a match report into a mobile phone, which will capture both voice and images for use on the TV news. If anybody wishes to take part, please see me at a match and I can draw up a list.
