The Weston Gas Corporate Day Out!

February 25, 2006

With Rovers playing at Darlington a few weeks ago, members of the Weston Super Mare branch of the Supporters Club took the opportunity to catch up with a couple of former Gas players now playing at Conference South side Weston-Super-Mare.

Sixteen WSM Gas members were both match and match ball sponsors for the game against Lewes, with the Weston team including former Memorial Stadium favourites Lewis Hogg and Mark McKeever. The match was won by Lewes 2-1 with late penalties for both sides after Lewes had taken a first half lead against the run of play.

Steve Robbins of WSM Gas had organised the event, and was asked to name man of the match, which was duly awarded to Lewis Hogg, although Steve denies any truth in the rumour that he had picked the man of the match on the friday before the game!

The WSM branch of the Supporters Club, formed just over a year ago, are an active group who hold regular events and fund raise for Rovers youth at the events they run. They organise their own away travel for Rovers matches and have a good number of members and often sponsor a match ball for at least one home Rovers match a year at the Mem.

Any Rovers fans living in the area who would like to join can contact us and we will put them in touch with the WSM branch. Alternatively, they regularly meet at the Windsor Castle pub at Weston.

Additionally, there will be a Supporters Club evening soon at the Windsor Castle on the 27th of April, starting at 7.30pm. Lennie Lawrence will be there, along with players from the squad as well as Supporters Club committee members and club Directors, all ready to answer your questions on the night. If you would like to come along admission is free, but to help us judge numbers, please register your intention to attend either by using the contact us feature here, or by contacting Pirate Leisure or 199 and they can add you to the list. For a map, please click here.
