BRSC Quiz A Hit
April 12, 2006
[image1] The Film & TV Quiz held on Monday 3rd April, was won by “The Truth About Love” team, who just pipped the Radio Bristol team into second place. You may have heard on the radio, that the local celebrity side featuring Nigel Dando, Matt Pick and Richard Hoskin, were quite pleased with their second place. Sufficiently pleased to give the evening a mention on their morning show twice during the week, so they obviously enjoyed themselves.
A special mention must go to Brian of the “Pirates” team. One of his fellow team members was double booked so had to leave after three rounds. The other member of the Pirates team decided that as they were already languishing in last place that he would go as well. That left Brian to carry on on his own. In true Rovers fashion, Brian battled on and stayed to the very end so that he could applaud the eventual winners.
Like Brian said, “I’m a Gashead and even though I know little about films, I am here to support the club.” It only cost £1 for him to enter, but that is an extra £1 for the Share scheme.
The highlight for the evening for most people was to see Brian win two prizes in the raffle; the 3rd Prize of the newly released Four Brothers DVD and also a tankard, so it meant that for just spending £2 on raffle tickets, he walked away with over £25 worth or prizes. A very fitting example that loyal Rovers fans eventually get their just rewards for their loyal support of the club.
In the BRSC quizzes, you don’t even have to be a winner, to be a winner! (If you know what I mean!)
Overall, numbers were lower than the usual turnout, but vital funds were still raised for the supporters Club Share Scheme. Big Thanks go to Steve for compiling the questions and acting as quizmaster, and his lovely assistant Jane for doing the scoring.
The next quiz will be Phil’s General Knowledge Quiz next week on Thursday 20th April. Again, it will only cost £1 per person to enter, with a maximum number of 5 in a team. Like Brian you might not be able to win the Quiz, but it would be great if more people could follow his example and support the club. Who knows there is always the raffle!
Also, if you do not have SKY why not come to the Mem on Wednesday 19 April to follow Arsenal’s game against Villa Real live on the Big Screen. Remember drinks bought at the stadium help Rovers financial situation. Which pubs down town are going to help OUR club when you buy drinks at THEIR bars?
