Into the Valle!
April 21, 2006
[image1] Tomorrow sees the return of infamous Twerton matchday P.A. man Keith Valle.
Keith spent many years as matchday P.A. man for Rovers using his own unique style to help create an atmosphere amongst fans who went to watch Rovers during the exile years over in Bath. Some would say his approach was all part of what made the atmosphere what it was during those days.
Keith was one for saying what he was thinking whilst speaking on the mic. He gained notoriety for referring to Manchester City’s Gary Flitcroft as Gary Flip-Flop and once made a throw away remark about Bristol City’s Junior Bent, much to the amusement of the Popular side. Another of his infamous one-liners to make it to the Twerton Tannoy was when he announced that a ref who had a particularly bad game was available for panto! He also used to speak to away fans on the mic during his pre match routine.
Tomorrow’s match sees him return for a one off appearance which has been made possible by a group of his friends sponsoring him making this one-off appearance.
Nick Day, our regular match day announcer, is looking forward to taking his first day off from microphone duties for 13 years. “It’s a chance to bring my young son along for his first time to see the Gas” said Nick. He continued, “As he’s only very young, I’m not sure how long he will last, but it will make a change to come along to a match as a regular supporter and be able to relax for a change. I wish Keith all the best for the day and hope everybody enjoys a trip down memory lane.”
