Fun Day Appeal

April 23, 2006

Supporters Club Social Committee Chair David Hewett today launched an appeal to all Gasheads.

With the annual Rovers fun day coming up before the new season kicks off, the Social committee are already  planning their agenda, even before the season has finished. “We have to plan everything well in advance,” said David, who knows only too well how the best laid plans can be thwarted by circumstances out of ytour control.

David continued. “One of the big attractions at the fun day is the Tombola run by BRSC. As it is a prize every time on this particluar stall, we need to make sure we have plenty of prizes. In the past we have been able to use Rovers souvenirs, but this year I am appealing to Gasheads to see if they have anything they would like to donate for us to use. It’s all about raising money for the club and by using stock from the shops it cuts diown on how much we can raise. Old shirts or scarves are not a good idea for health and safety reasons, though if there are any unworn signed shirts suitable for framing they would be most welcome. Programmes and associated football memorabilia like books or videos would also be welcome.”

The Fun Day represents a great opportunity to bring the kids down to meet the players and re-introduce yourself to the Mem ready for the start of next season. Its a chance to look around parts of the stadium you would not normally get a chance to see and get some photo opportunities with the players. The date of the fun day will be announced here as soon as it is confirmed, so watch this space.

You may remember some weeks ago we mentioned the collecting tins around the stadium on a matchday. They are situated in both shops and with programme sellers. We are delighted to tell you that over just a few weeks, these have raised over £50 and just from Gasheads loose change! All the money going into these tins goes to the BRSC Share Scheme, helping to go towards the stake BRSC needs to play  a major part in affecting future boardroom decisions at Rovers on behalf of  You, the fans.
