MK Dons coach success
November 5, 2009
The Supporters Club organised a pub meal stop on the way to Milton Keynes Dons recently, as a way of improving the away day match experience when using the coach. The idea is to let fans experience more of an enjoyable break, instead of the usual motorway services.
The Spread Eagle in Abingdon hosted our first pub meal stop. The food was ordered en route and ready by the time the first round of drinks orders was cleared from the bar. The service was very good and the whole coach was fed and watered in good time before setting off for Milton Keynes just over an hour later.
The operation was a success, despite the result, although we will tweak the timings slightly. We will find a suitable pub nearer the match venue in future, so allowing a little more time to enjoy the pub setting and allow for any unforeseen delays. We are just finalising the details for the pub meal stop en route to Colchester on December 12th and details will be released shortly. Colchester has a new ground on the outskirts of the town and this is an excellent alternative way to travel to make an arduous journey more pleasurable.
