Rob Sinclair named Player of the Month

Forest Green Rovers midfielder Rob Sinclair has been announced as the Vanarama Conference Player of the Month for October.

The 25 year old’s excellent performances in the Forest Green midfield over the past month have earned the summer signing recognition from the official awards panel.

Sinclair has played his part in helping Forest Green enjoy an unbeaten month, with excellent wins secured along the way over Bristol Rovers and AFC Telford United achieved too.

On the announcement of the award, Sinclair commented saying: “It is nice to be recognised when you are doing well, but as a team we have been really good this month. Myself and Sam Wedgbury have struck up a nice partnership in central midfield and I think it has helped.

“We are doing really well as a team and we have to keep that going well for the next few months and the rest of the season. I didn’t expect it although I do think I have done fairly well this month. It comes as a surprise but it is nice to be recognised.”

The awards panel who decided on Sinclair receiving the accolade is made up of representatives from the Football Conference, Vanarama and journalists who cover the division.

Sinclair joined Forest Green in the summer from Salisbury City and has impressed hugely in his time in Gloucestershire so far.

He has made 17 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring once in a home defeat against league leaders Barnet.

‘Sincs’ began his career at Luton and has also spent time on the books at Stevenage and Aldershot Town.

The Green’s unbeaten month was made even more memorable for Rob as he came up against brother Stuart of Bristol Rovers for first time. Rob now has the bragging rights in the Sinclair family after his team’s 1-0 win at the Memorial Stadium.”
