Andy Monkhouse has turned down a new deal with Bristol Rovers.
He was released by Hartlepool at the end of the 2013/14 season.
He signed for ex-team mate Darrell Clarke for the 2014/15 season, where he established an excellent partnership with left back Lee Brown.
He helped Bristol Rovers get back into the Football League at the first attempt.
However, after playing 42 games for Bristol Rovers, he won’t be resigning.
He said: “They gave me a couple of offers and I told the gaffer on Monday that I wouldn’t be going be back. I loved it, I really enjoyed it there. I went with the aim of getting promoted and we did it, so it was great.”
Andy Monkhouse is now seeking a club nearer to his Leeds home.
Last season he was linked with a return to Hartlepool as part of a proposed swop deal with Jack Compton.
Back in August 2014 his headed goal at Forest Green Rovers brought us our only point out of the first 4 Away games. He will be fondly remembered for achieving double figures in goals, with some fine headers and some crisp shooting, but mostly for his high standard of team play.
