Foot Note

August 2, 2015

A good number of us go back a few years now and remember Kitey from his early days.

Phil Kite signs autographs - Mandatory byline: Dougie Allward/JMP - 07966386802 - 31/07/2015 - FOOTBALL - Memorial Stadium -Bristol,England - Bristol Rovers v West Brom - Phil Kite Testimonial Match

A young keeper coming up through the ranks with us to move on to Southampton and Sheffield United.

It was the time of the golden age of the Welsh nursery, Eastville Stadium and the true smell of gas.

Phil returned to develop his profession and I have come to know him well over the past nine years or so.

I have learnt that Kitey is passionate about Bristol Rovers; he is a proper Gashead, totally one of us.

Former Bristol Rovers player and retiring team physio Phil Kite jokes with Geoff Twentyman as he is introduced onto the pitch to an applause ahead of the match - Mandatory byline: Rogan Thomson/JMP - 07966 386802 - 31/07/2015 - FOOTBALL - Memorial Stadium - Bristol, England - Bristol Rovers v West Bromwich Albion - Phil Kite Testimonial Match.

As a footnote I would like to mention my feet.

I had made up my mind to walk from Bristol to Yeovil, on to Exeter to Weston-super-mare and back to Bristol.

This was  in aid of the Adam Stansfield Foundation. Only my legs and feet were going to stop me.

Years of running marathons would help and with a bit of hard training to top up I felt confident.

Phil Kite - Mandatory by-line: Neil Brookman/JMP - 07966386802 - 31/07/2015 - SPORT - FOOTBALL - Bristol,England - Memorial Stadium - Bristol Rovers v West Brom - Pre-Season Friendly

No worries about the legs then, but what about the feet?

Phil showed me how to look after them and provided me with all the necessaries.

I got round the 180 miles in ten days with my feet still in great shape thanks to Phil.

All the very best mate, happy days.

Kind Regards

Ken Masters
