3. Gary Rowett on facing Bristol Rovers.
“It’s a good game for us. From my time at Burton I think we knocked out seven or eight teams from higher opposition. We certainly know what we need to do properly as a so-called bigger team. And we need to know what it is going to be like down there in front of Bristol Rovers fans. I’m sure they’ll be in full voice.
They get some fantastic attendances down there and we need to be at our best. I know what it takes to beat a Championship team in this competition and I also know what a Championship team needs to do to win. That’s the message I’ll be telling the players and it’s going to be up to some of them to go and put another good performance on.”
There have been just 19 league and cup meetings between Bristol Rovers and Blues.
Rovers have won two of them, eight have ended in draws and Blues have secured nine victories.
The last time that Blues played Rovers away was in a League Cup tie on September 11 2001.
Blues won that tie 3-0, courtesy of goals from Andrew Johnson, Michael Johnson and Bryan Hughes.
Blues are unbeaten in their last 12 games against Rovers.
