All across the nation millions(?) of ‘footie fans’ rose from their beds and tuned-in to watch what we all hoped would be a thrilling match from the basement division.
The Sunday noon kick-off for those of us here to help provide the weekend’s entertainment will matter not one jot to our ‘armchair’ brethren.
It is of course a privilege for a Rovers v Oxford game in League 2 to be chosen for live TV so we shouldn’t grumble I suppose as both clubs will make a few bob out of it.
Thanks anyway to the visiting ‘U’s fans who have bothered to travel down this morning – I just hope Rovers make it an unprofitable trip for you.
Another massive turn-out of ‘Gas’ last Saturday saw Rovers come back pointless from a League game an incredible 51 weeks since our last defeat on the road at Braintree in early September 2014.
‘Plusses’ were the League debut of Tyler Lyttle, the fifth former Academy player to make it into the team after Lines, Lockyer, Harrison and Ollie Clarke.
Just before the game Alan Walsh informed me that his Under 18 side had just toppled League leaders Bournemouth at Golden Hill to maintain their own incredible year-long unbeaten run.
Keep buying the 50/50 tickets – the results are here for all to see!
Up the ‘Pirates’!
