Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup 1st Round.

The Corinium Stadium. Tuesday 8th September 2015.

Bristol Rovers were too strong for Cirencester in this Gloucestershire Challenge Cup first round tie.

Holders Cirencester Town were knocked out at the first hurdle by a young and slick Bristol Rovers side.

But it was two former Swindon Town players, Cristian Montano and Billy Bodin, who did the damage scoring two goals apiece before being withdrawn in the second half.

The impressive Montano stroked two sublime free kicks past Glyn Garner and also set up Bodin’s opener.

Rovers were good value for their 2-0 lead after 12 minutes but Ollie Knight pulled a goal back in the 17th minute with a fine strike and the hosts enjoyed a good spell just before the break.

Montano’s second set piece strike came in the 54th minute and Bodin broke clear before successfully chipping Garner three minutes later to make it 4-1.

An impressed onlooker from the stands was Billy’s dad and former Swindon legend Paul Bodin.

To their credit Cirencester kept pressing and made it 4-2 with a sweet Josh Parsons volley in the 62nd minute.

Just when they were looking as if they might get something out of the game Rovers centre forward Blake Davies ended their hopes with a breakaway goal in the 78th minute.
