Newport County 0 v 3 Bristol Rovers





Final Third Development League Cup.

The fixture was played on Tuesday 8th December 2015 with a kick off at 1.00pm.

The venue was Llanwern High School, Hartridge Farm Road, Newport, NP18 2YE.

Bristol Rovers hit Newport County on the break and deliver a dangerous cross into the area that is cleared away by Seth Nana Twumasi.

Nana Twumasi runs with the ball and slides a pass to Zak Ansah, who hits the target with his effort, but his shot is pushed away.


Aaron Collins, who scored 4 times against Argyle in the last fixture in this competition, tries his luck from long-range, but Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Will Puddy saves.

Great turn by Aaron Collins on the edge of the area, allows the striker room to hit a powerful shot towards goal that is held by Will Puddy.

53rd min. Bristol Rovers take the lead thanks to an Ellis Harrison penalty.

66th min. Ryan Broom doubles the lead for Bristol Rovers.

72nd min. Rovers add a third through Jamie Lucas, as the ball takes an unfortunate bounce under Newport County goalkeeper Joe Green.

Aaron Collins, the subject of much interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United  plays a cross into the area that finds Nyall Gray, but the substitute is closed down before he can adjust his feet to shoot.

Kieran Preston replaces Will Puddy late on.

If Bristol Rovers win their next match against Plymouth Argyle they qualify for the final of the FTD Cup.

Otherwise, Swindon Town will play Southend United in the Final.
