Glenn And Darren

April 19, 2016

Stevenage have  a caretaker boss and a “Managerial Advisor” at present.

Darren Sarll is the temporary incumbent and the Acting Counsellor is Glenn Roeder.

Unusual though the roles and titles might be it is proving to be the pathway to league safety for the Boro.

They have now won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five matches.

This turnaround comes after they lost five on the trot in late February and March.

Darren Sarll was in full voice against Newport County last Saturday.

Boro need a point at home to promotion-chasing Bristol Rovers on Tuesday 19th April 2016.

They look to build on a 2-1 win in the corresponding match on Tuesday 24th November 2015.

Darren Sarll wants to get the required point to make sure relegation is a mathematical improbability.

“After that Boro can  enjoy themselves for the rest of the season.”

“We have been in good form. We will go into the Bristol Rovers game with belief.”

Former Premier League boss Glenn Roeder joined Stevenage to help Darren Sarll’s fledgling league management career and not to take his job.

Managerial advisor, Glenn Roeder, says the match against the Pirates will be a good test for the players.

“So now a completely different test against Bristol Rovers.

“They are high goal scorers and have got one of the leading goal scorers in the division.

“They are a very good team in the offensive mode of the game.

“It is very important that we keep their attacking qualities to a bare minimum to restrict their opportunities.

“We have got to do as well as we did on Saturday when we are attacking and playing our own offensive game.

“It is a game that the players are looking forward to and are wanting to show off their own talents.”
