A pretty impressive Away record.

The new Scunthorpe United ground has been granted planning permission by North Lincolnshire Council and Buckingham Group Contracting have been appointed to build the stadium.

That is the 39 year sequence of results between Bristol Rovers and Scunthorpe United.

Since the 30th of September 1967, nearly 40 years now, BRFC have lost just once at Scunthorpe United.

Supporters with long memories may well remember the 30th of April 2005.

Despite three central defenders in John Anderson, Christian Edwards and Steve Elliott BRFC lost 4-0.

A strong and powerful Iron side were on the march up the football league pyramid.

A familiar face in Steve Torpey gave them two early goals and later Craig Disley got dismissed.

Apart from that setback trips to the Iron have been fruitful and yielded points for a very long while.

The bad news is that Scunthorpe United nearly always have an AWAY match in the league opener.

The last THREE times they have had a HOME fixture for the league opener they went on to win promotion.

August 6th 2016 could be the start of a promotion campaign for one side. But for which team?
