Supporters Club Statement

May 1, 2025 | News

We have taken the time to reflect on our club’s performance on and off the pitch over the past twelve months and determined that it was essential to issue a statement to propel the club forward.

We are, as is everyone else, very disappointed that the 2024/25 season has ended in relegation to League Two.

The season began with optimism, given that we witnessed so many players recruited in the summer; possibly the most to have been signed in one transfer window in our club’s proud history. Transfer records were broken, and players, both permanent and on loan from higher divisions, came in to join the emerging, talented, squad already at the club. However, our season on the pitch simply didn’t turn out in the way we all hoped it would.

Once the season has concluded, we need to come together and learn what is required to put us back on the right track to rebuild and bounce back to a Bristol Rovers club that is pulling together as one.

During the season, our two Supporters Club Directors, Helen Wigmore and Clive Marshall, have spent many hours working with Ritchie Bates, Director Of Commercial And Revenue, who came to our club after the start of the season. During our regular meetings, we have been able to express our viewpoints on behalf of our members and supporters.

We hope his vision of improving the whole Matchday experience will bear fruit during the summer. Helen and Clive will continue to engage with Ritchie every step of the way to ensure all supporters’ voices are heard and represented.

Helen and Clive haven’t had the same amount of time with our owners as we had hoped for. However, before our last home game against Reading, Clive met with them. We have been assured that communication between all parties will become more frequent in the future. All Supporters Club members and, indeed, all supporters can be assured that our voice and yours will be heard.

We believe that this is a time for the club to come together, including fans, staff, owners, and all those who have Bristol Rovers at heart.

We look forward to moving in the right direction in unity.
