SUPPORTERS CLUB MEETINGS
The Bristol Rovers Supporters Club Committee meets once each month and in order to advise our membership, and the wider fanbase, of matters that have been discussed, a brief summary of each meeting will, from now on, appear on our website.
Prize Draw: We have applied, to Bristol City Council, for a Licence to enable us to hold a Draw, either at Christmas or at any other time of the year and we are told that the application is being processed.
Programme Sales & Procedures: All sellers have been asked to return unsold programmes and 50/50 tickets to the Supporters Club Shop to enable the 50/50 draw to take place prior to kick off and to enable sellers to be in the stadium by the time the game kicks off.
Travel – It was agreed that a cancellation policy, in the event of a postponement when the journey is underway, will operate from 1st March. The policy will be included in our terms and conditions and be displayed on our website.
2026 Plan: A number of suggestions/ideas for working together with other Support Groups, and the Football Club, are being considered for 2026 and beyond. Proposals received to date include a Dinner with Celebrity speaker at The Mem, Celebrations to commemorate the fact we will have been at The Mem 30 years come August, a possible reunion dinner in April 2027 to commemorate 20 years since the Play Off Final win against Shrewsbury Town and a Quiz night to include supporters teams, Support Groups teams, Football Club and Community Trust teams.
Our Directors will discuss these ideas, and any others received, at their next meeting with Chief Executive Officer Ritchie Bates.
50/50 Draw – The future of the 50/50 Draw will also be discussed by our Directors and the CEO, as will our End of Season Presentations. We are currently exploring the possibility, with our web designer, of introducing a poll on our website to allow supporters to vote for the Player of the Year, etc rather than hand out voting slips to determine the winners.
Finance: The retail arm of the SC has proved to be very successful this season, with an improved leisurewear range and the introduction of a matchday programme. We are attracting a number of legacy cap sponsorships and finances remain stable.
We are committed to purchasing shares to the value of £2,500 from a supporter who wishes to sell his shares.
DSA: we work closely with the Disabled Supporters Association (DSA) and it was reported that the Football Club has agreed to address the issue of cladding behind the wheelchair bay in the West Stand area and look at similar provision for the East Stand. Work is likely to take place during the summer.
It was felt that progress with the club is now being made on all fronts as they are approaching the DSA to determine how best to improve facilities for disabled supporters rather than the DSA reporting problems to them.
The SC/DSA are looking at facilitating away travel for disabled supporters.
Social: A Supporters Quiz will take place at Begbrook Social Club at 7.30pm on Thursday 5th March
Cost will be £3.00 per person and teams limited to a maximum of six.
Caps: It was reported that Tim Parkin and David Pipe had received their caps at the Newport game and that both had sent a message thanking the SC for making the presentation and, in Tim’s case, thanking the Football Club for looking after him and his wife. Frankie Prince had also been presented with a certificate to go with the cap he received a few years back, when we weren’t handing out certificates, and he was delighted to receive it.
