It’s a big play off weekend in three divisions of the EFL and in the National League and tonight sees the Championship Play Off First Leg between Hull City and Millwall with, as far as we can tell, three former Rovers players likely to be involved.
For the home side, Ollie McBurnie is likely to lead the attack; the striker scored twice last Saturday to seal a 2-1 home win against Norwich City and a play off place.
He joined Rovers in a three month loan deal, from Swansea City, in March 2016 and went on to make five league appearances, all from the bench, as Rovers clinched a second successive promotion.
He has since played for Barnsley, Sheffield United and Las Palmas as well As Hull and, along the way, he’s won 16 full caps for Scotland.

Opposing McBurnie will be Tristan Crama and Josh Coburn. Crama, an ever present for Millwall in the regular season that’s just ended, played 27 games for Rovers, when on loan from Brentford, in 2023/24. He has since played for Exeter City, again on loan, and joined Millwall on a free transfer in January 2025.

Another Rovers loanee, Coburn who arrived at The Mem on loan from Middlesbrough in September 2022, went on to score 10 goals in 35 league games whilst with us. He joined Millwall, initially on loan, in August 2024 and signed a permanent deal with them in June 2025
