CHAIR REPORT 2026
Here we are again, another season already over a quarter of the way through!
I’m sure I’m not the only one that thought we might not have been in League 2 this season. Steve and Paul did a tremendous job keeping us up last season and it was particularly nice to see Byron Anthony involved too, a position which he now undertakes full time. I’m sure we all wish them every success this season and send our best wishes to Paul during his own personal battle.
Our committee has changed slightly since last season. James Rudman has left us to become a football coach. I would like to thank James for all his help in the time he was on the committee and wish him well as I know that coaching is something he has wanted to do for a long time. We have been joined on the committee by Mark Brimson and we are delighted to have him on board. Mark’s first task is to arrange a quiz involving all the Club support groups, so look out for information on our website and socials regarding this.
During the last year the Committee has continued to be busy with our retail outlet, programmes and our cap initiative. Gary Brindle is constantly sourcing new items for us to sell in our shop and anyone who has visited will have seen his hard work. If there is anything that you would like to see us stock, please call in and see Gary, Janet or Angela and we’ll see what we can do to help. Jamie has now moved in to his ‘programme emporium’ He has a good stock of old programmes and if he doesn’t have the one you want in his shop he may know where to get it from for you so it’s worth calling in to see him and asking.
Keith Brookman and Gary are continuing to write our matchday programme with the help of other contributors. The programmes are usually sold out early every match so if you would like one, please get to the shop as early as possible. We have increased the number of pages this year and to cover our costs we have had to increase the price but at £2 it is still a bargain. If you do miss out Supporters Club members can access it online approximately two hours after the final whistle, another benefit we offer our members.
Keith continues to host former players at each home game with the support of the Football Club and Former Players Association. There are still many caps to present and if anyone has a favourite player they would like to sponsor, please contact Keith (secretary@bristolroverssc.co.uk). The cost is £50 for SC members and £60 for non-members.
We are continuing to sell 50/50 tickets on behalf of the Football Club with all proceeds continuing to go the Academy. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who stand out in all weathers to sell the tickets to you. We are constantly looking for new sellers as the more tickets we sell the bigger the prizes and the more money goes to our Academy so if you are able to help out on a matchday please get in touch.
At the start of this season Will and Hayley from the Community Trust joined us at one of our monthly meetings. They explained all the work they do with their education programme and after a discussion we all agreed this is something that we should support.
We are very happy that the Supporters Club and you as its members are now the Official Student Kit Sponsor. This is a three year deal and we aim to be as involved as possible with the Community Trust, attending matches and meeting the students. We have always been proud to help the Community Trust in any way we can and long may this relationship continue.
The committee are also currently working with the Football Club on a project to enhance the area behind the Thatchers Bar. We are hoping that weather permitting this will be completed by the start of next year, and more information to follow once we have the work completed.
My fellow Director Clive Marshall and I continue to meet Football Club CEO Ritchie Bates on a regular basis to discuss any matters brought to our attention by supporters. We have a very good working relationship with him and our owners, and we are grateful that they are very responsive to all matters we raise with them.
I would like to thank all of our committee members for their hard work throughout the past year and our members for all the support you give us. If there is anything you would like to discuss with us please call in to our shop on a matchday and we will do all we can to help
