A Cap For Trolls

We were delighted to welcome former Rovers player and manager Paul Trollope back to the Memorial Stadium on Saturday, where he was a Boardroom guest for the match against Huddersfield Town.

Paul first joined Rovers, as a player, in June 2004 and made his Rovers league debut against Mansfield Town on 7th August that year when he became the 731st player to appear for the club in league football. It was the first of his 30 league games for the club.

He became player/coach in August 2005 and in November that year became manager, with Lennie Lawrence taking on the role of Director of Football.

In 2006/07 he was in charge when Rovers reached the JPT Final and lost to Doncaster Rovers in the Millennium Stadium Final but just a few weeks later he oversaw the Play Off Final victory against Shrewsbury Town, at Wembley, which saw the club promoted to League One.

Paul has since worked in a number of high profile jobs in football and was assistant manager at Luton Town, in the Premier League and Championship, until December 2024.

Helen Wigmore, one of the Supporters Club Directors on the Board of the Football Club, presented Paul with his cap and certificate to commemorate his league debut for the club and we wish him every success in the future.
