Sam Slocombe was one of two goalkeepers to join Rovers yesterday.

29 year old Slocombe started his career with Bottesford Town in the Northern Counties East Football League moving to his hometown club Scunthorpe United in August 2008 for a transfer fee of £3,000 and a pre-season friendly.

He stayed at Glanford Park for seven years playing 115 league games for the Irons. In May 2015 it was announced that he wouldn’t be offered a new deal and was free to leave and a month later he joined Oxford United signing a two year contract.

A year later he left Oxford by mutual consent having made 16 league appearances, and joined Blackpool signing a one year deal with an option of a further year.

He made 32 appearances in the Seasiders’ successful promotion campaign, playing in the play-off final victory over Exeter at Wembley.

He has played against Rovers four times and has kept clean sheets at the Mem for both Scunthorpe and Oxford.
