I would also like to thank and welcome you back to the Mem as we prepare for our first home league game of the 2017/2018 season.

May I offer a great big ‘thank you’ to all of you who were part of the massive following of fans at Charlton last week. I appreciate it was not the best start to the season. Some fans were held up on the train journey at Bath Spa and I know how frustrating that can be when your eager to get to the game. Many got soaked in the rain outside the ground, bringing back vivid memories of Swindon.

That match was against the backdrop of the new stadium news from the Thursday before. I like you, was extremely disappointed to hear the UWE news. We have faced many disappointments before. That seems to the down side of following the Rovers year in year out. However, I am sure a positive solution will be found at the Mem, which will ensure the long-term viability and progress of this Club and I know long discussions will take place at board level, in the bars and on the terraces as we go forward.

Now, hopefully today, we can give Peterborough the same welcome they gave us in that final away game of last season. But before I go, may I give all my thanks to Paul and Jan and many other Gasheads for a fabulous long weekend at Skegness, including the Peterborough game in April. I had a fantastic time and hopefully with many more to come.

So back to this afternoon. Fingers crossed for our first home league win of the season and once again my sincere thanks for your support. Enjoy the game!

Yours in Friendship
