Bristol Rovers Supporters Club welcomes the Bristol Rovers Heritage Society to the network of support groups associated with our club and look forward to collaborating with them on future projects. The following press release has been issued by the group today.
We are delighted to announce the formation of the Bristol Rovers Heritage Society.
We shall promote the awareness of the history of Bristol Rovers Football Club by acquiring and preserving memorabilia and researching historical data to share with, and for the benefit of, the club’s supporters and football fans in general.
We will be working alongside our affiliated groups, the Supporters Club, Former Players Association and the President’s Club where we will be able to pool resources dedicated to Rovers’ research and retention of memorabilia and also to collaborate on some events to make them more available to the fans.
Among our future plans is the publication of the Black Arabs Project as researched by one of our members, Eric Whitlock. This details the formation of our proud club with a multitude of match reports, scores and photos from those early days prior to the change of name from Eastville Rovers to Bristol Rovers in 1899.
We very much look forward to working with our affiliated groups. We are sure that there will be mutual respect and collaboration in the projects that we undertake.
