Caps Initiative

Jan 15, 2025 | News

Most, if not all, of you will be aware of our caps initiative whereby we would like to award a cap to every player who has played at least one league match for Bristol Rovers.

It’s a mammoth task and will take a few years to get anywhere near making sure that all players, or their families/descendants, receive a cap.

When Shaq Forde made his league debut for Rovers earlier this season, he became the 1020th player to represent our club in the league and it seems very likely that Romaine Sawyers will become number 1021 in the very near future!

To date we have presented only 127 caps and we really want to push on and, hopefully, hit the 200 mark by the end of the season.

Working in co operation with the Football Club, we will be presenting members of the current squad with their caps over the coming weeks. Presentations will take place at the club’s training ground, The Quarters, and supporters who sponsor a cap will be invited along to make the presentation.

We will be presenting four caps each week and the first four to receive theirs will be Josh Griffiths, Joel Senior, Lino Sousa and Taylor Moore.

The players receive a cap and a certificate, while supporters who sponsor a cap will also receive a certificate, present the cap to the player and have their photograph taken at the presentation.

Sponsorship is open to all and costs £50 for Supporters Club members and £60 for non members. The cut off point to register your interest is 4th February.

The date of the first presentation will be announced shortly, but in the meantime if you would like to sponsor any of the players named above, please contact our secretary at the address below.

Please be aware that the following members of the squad have already been presented with their caps; Scott Sinclair, Luke Thomas, Connor Taylor, Luke McCormick, James Wilson, Jack Hunt, Chris Martin, Kamil Conteh, Grant Ward, Jerry Lawrence.

As Jake Garrett and Michael Forbes have returned to their parent clubs following their respective loans, we will need to make alternative arrangements for presenting them with their caps.
