Chris assumes the position with immediate effect, having been the Development Squad Manager since its inception in the summer of 2017.

The former Torquay United boss has also supported the First Team since December last year, acting as Graham Coughlan’s number two and helping guide the club to safety.

Chris’ switch to the academy is made with the eagerness of bettering the transition from the academy to the senior squad.

Following his appointment, Chris said, “The club wanted me to come in and take the Academy a step further, by improving the pathway into the First Team.

“Our fans here love to see young local talent rise through the ranks and eventually put on the blue and white in front of them at the Mem, so we will continue to strive to do exactly that.

“I enjoyed my time with the First Team and playing my part in the club’s survival, but now there’s a fresh opportunity and challenge to get stuck into.”

Manager Graham Coughlan said, “Chris has worked with both the First Team and Development Squad and he will help the transition from the Academy to the Development Squad and onto the First Team.

“I would like to thank Chris for his work with the first team since December and have no doubt he will continue to have a positive impact on Bristol Rovers.”
