Gas Girls bow out on penalties

Oct 5, 2020 | Gas Girls, News

The Gas Girls WFA Cup run came to an end on Sunday afternoon when they were eliminated from the competition, going down to a 4-3 defeat in a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw with higer league AEK-Boco Ladies in a game that had to be played behind closed doors at Lockleaze Sports Centre.

Our visitors took an early lead from a corner only for Jamie-Leigh Worlock to head the Gas level in the second half. Jen Atherton, Jamie-Leigh Worlock and skipper Natty Coles were our successful penalty takers. It was a dominant performance from our girls who proved once again that they have what it takes to perform at a higher level.

Promotion is now the number one target for our girls and their league season begins next Sunday when they travel to South Bristol Sports Centre to take on Bristol & West Ladies, kick-off 2pm.
