Bristol Rovers Womens’ FC aka the Gas Girls were crowned as champions of the South West Regional Womens’ Football League, Northern Division on Sunday after a 4-0 victory over Weston Mendip Ladies at Lockleaze Sports Centre.

Our girls went into the game needing just a point to secure their second successive title and promotion and after a goalless first half the floodgates opened in the second half with Laura Curnock hitting a hat-trick with Zoe Fielden-Stewart grabbing the other goal.

The girls will play in the Premier Division of this league next season, the fifth tier in the womens’ football pyramid.

Bristol Rovers Supporters Club are very proud sponsors of the Gas Girls and we have watched in awe as this project has developed from an idea to where they are now in just three years. Their brand of football is a joy to watch and is just a part of what they do with their work in the community allowing all girls the opportunity to play football.

We offer our congratulations to everyone connected with the girls and we look forward to continuing our association with them in the future.
