Shannon Francis plays for Bristol Rovers Women’s FC aka The Gas Girls as a central defender. Following Sunday’s 14-0 victory over Cirencester Town Ladies she put pen to paper and wrote the following match report. We are happy to share this here on our website. Well done Shannon!
Bristol Rovers Womens Development faced Cirencester Ladies on 3rd November 2019 at Lockleaze Sports Centre, Bristol. Home to Bristol Rovers Womens FC.
After a devastating 1-0 defeat last weekend against Cotswold Rangers, we all knew that we needed to keep our heads high and go out today and play some great football. We were all raring to go for the 2pm kick off and excited to play football.
The whistle blew at 2pm and the Gas Girls were straight in. Within two minutes of play we took possession and scored! Lottie Weeks, Dev Captain slotted the ball in the back of the net making it our first goal of the game.
The first half continued and we worked to keep possession, play good football and take our chances to get that ball in the back of the net. We continued our streak and secured 3 more goals, making the first half result 4-0 to the Gas Girls Dev.
As the second half commenced, we continued to play solid as a team, keeping possession and providing fantastic opportunities to score more goals.
I was lucky enough to contribute to the 14 goals that we managed to achieve. Lottie Weeks provided a corner from the left and it travelled perfectly to where I was in the box and managed to head it into the back of the net, making it through the goalies arms. I was very chuffed!
Goal scorers from the game as below:
