Gas Girls Development Team turn on the style as they hit Gloucester for eleven

Around 120 supporters basked in the Lockleaze sun as the Gas Girls Development side played their first game, a pre-season friendly against Gloucester City Ladies.

The afternoon was supposed to be a double-header with our first team due to play Gloucester City and our Development side to play Salisbury. After Salisbury pulled out 24 hours before the games a decision was taken to switch the fixtures around to give the Development girls some much needed game time.

Any nerves were not apparent as our Girls hit the ground running, hitting the post within seconds of the kick-off and were two up after just four minutes. As the clock hit the twenty minute mark they were five ahead and went into the half-time interval eight goals to the good. The second half was a much quieter affair with our girls running out 11-1 winners.

Congratulations go to Rosie Hall, who competes for Great Britain as an age-group sprinter, who grabbed the Gas Girls first ever hat-trick. Influential midfielder Jess Lumber deservedly picked up the Player of the Match award.

Gloucester City Ladies ply their trade in the same divsion of the Gloucestershire County Women’s League as our Development side.

The league action starts next weekend with our first team playing at Abbeymead Rovers Ladies with our Development side playing at Cotswold Rangers Women.
