Bristol Pride is a registered charity organised by volunteers from the community who work all year round to challenge homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and promote equality and diversity, for all, through various events, school visits and consultation services. The Bristol Pride Festival also attracts close to 40,000 people every year.

The ‘Gas Girls’ recently received ‘The Best Football Community Development Initiative’ award at this year’s FA Women’s Football Awards and the club is continuing to establish key partnerships within the City in an attempt to promote community cohesion and inclusion.

Bristol Rovers Women’s and Bristol Rovers Community Trust are also excited to be working alongside Bristol Pride to organise future events and help bring the community together to celebrate, create understanding, opportunities for engagement and to tackle discrimination.

‘Gas Girls’ Club Secretary and Marketing Manager, Matthew Davies, said: “I am absolutely delighted to establish this partnership with such an inspiring organisation and charity like Bristol Pride. We’ve been in discussion with the team at Bristol Pride for a number of months and it was very clear that we all share the same community values and strive to challenge homophobia of any kind in society. To donate the front of this shirt to Bristol Pride and to be able to wear their brand is a huge honour and we’re really excited by what we’re able to achieve by working together in the future. I’d also like to thank Bob Seymour from Ahimsa Yoga Bristol who helped us the launch of the kit and shares our values as a club.”

Eve Russell, Festival Director at Bristol Pride, added: “We were so excited when Matt got in touch. Sport reaches and connects with so many people of all ages, races, sexes genders and everything in-between. Homophobia is a big problem in sport and this is a very clear message. We wish them all the best with the season ahead and can’t wait to wear the shirts with pride.”
