Gas Girls make it six out of six

Sep 23, 2019 | Gas Girls, News

Both Gas Girls sides recorded victories on Sunday and maintained their 100% records.

The first team won a very tough game against Bristol Ladies Union (Youth) by four goals to three at Combe Dingle Sports Complex. They fell behind in a game for the first time before going on to dominate the second half of the first half, and the first half of the second half. Rossana Rocha drew them level when she turned in Hannah Thompson’s cross before Jamie-Leigh Worlock gave them a 2-1 interval lead timing her run from midfield perfectly to meet a pass from Libby Bell. In the second half they appeared to have put the game out of sight when Rossana Rocha scored direct from a corner and Hannah Thompson unleashed an unstoppable shot to the top right-hand corner of the goal.

Bristol Ladies Union, playing with the advantage of the slope, never gave up and managed to reduce the arrears twice before the referee finally brought an end to the unbearable tension. Jamie-Leigh Worlock deservedly picked up the Player of the Match award for her non-stop running and hard work.

The Development side won a very impressive 3-0 victory at Dursley Town Ladies with Zoe Jones netting twice and April Lucia-Scadding scoring the other goal. Sarah Harris picked up the Player of the Match award.

Between them our sides have won all six of their games (five of them away from home) scoring 26 goals and conceding just 4.

Both sides are back in action this Sunday with our first team taking on Bristol & West Ladies at the South Bristol Sports Centre (BS14 9EA), and the Development side playing Bradley Stoke Ladies at Bradley Stoke Community School (BS32 9BS). Both games kick-off at 2pm.
