GRAHAM ANTHONY RICKETTS
30th July 1939 – July 2025
The death of former Rovers player, 85 year old Graham Ricketts, has been reported by the Peterborough Telegraph.
Born in Oxford, Graham, the holder of four England Youth caps, signed professional forms for Rovers in August 1956 and made the first of his 32 league appearances for the club against Notts County in February 1957 when he became the 330th player to represent the club in league. He was presented with his cap to commemorate his debut last year, by the staff of his Peterborough care home.
In July 1961 he joined Stockport County, for whom he made 119 league appearances before a move to Doncaster Rovers in July 1964. After 141 league games for the Yorkshire side, there was a move to Peterborough United in March 1968.
He ended his league career with The Posh after appearing in 50 league games for them and went on to play non league football for Kings Lynn, March Town and Yaxley.
He had joined Rovers whilst serving an apprenticeship for the Longwell Green Coach Works as a carpenter and joiner, a trade he continued once his playing career was over and he settled in Yaxley.
Married to Pauline for 65 years, the couple had three daughters and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and we at Bristol Rovers Supporters Club send our condolences to all of Graham’s family and friends at this sad time.
