Former Rovers goalkeeper Howard Radford, who made 245 league appearances for the club, suffered a major stroke in October and has been hospitalised ever since.

However, he is being discharged next Thursday and will stay with his daughter who will be installing specialist equipment to help care for him as his needs in the short term, at least, are quite complex.

Bristol Rovers Former Players Association (BRFPA) have contributed the sum of £250 towards the cost of a recliner chair for Howard and we are sure that all Rovers supporters would like to send their good wishes to him for his recovery.

A big supporter of the club and of the BRFPA, Howard appeared in the 1952/53 Third Division title winning side, having made his league debut against Southend United in October 1951 when he became the 305th player to represent Rovers in the league.

At 90 years of age, it is believed that Howard is the second oldest living Rovers player, behind Josser Watling.

We will be keeping in touch with Howard via his family and the BRFPA and keep you updated on his progress.
