What a great month September was for us as the Pirates sailed through all seven matches undefeated and finished with three consecutive League wins. The enforced break because of Bury’s expulsion from the League did not halt progress either as a forth win was ground out here thanks to Tom Davies’ first strike in the quarters to get October off to the best of starts ten days ago. Let’s hope that brilliant run continued up at Doncaster last Saturday – these notes having been written beforehand. Certainly the Committee’s choice for the Supporters Club’s ‘Goal-of-the-Season’ for September was fully justified when Johnson Clarke-Harris’s fantastic overhead kick against Accrington was also shortlisted by the League for it’s ‘Goal of the Month’ award. It would be great if ‘JCH’ was back from injury to repeat the feat tonight!

……………..
Our column in the M.K. Dons programme was dedicated to the Supporters Club’s sponsorship of the two new Rovers’ Ladies teams that are now both heading their respective divisions in the Gloucestershire County League so I was not able to mention that our discusions on the plight of Bury had been superceded by events. The other Football League clubs voted unanimously against allowing the ‘Shakers’ back into League 2 next season before we had chance to discuss the issue and it now appears that the fight is on to try and get Bury admitted into the National League instead. Tonight’s opposition have been luckier of course but Bolton face an almost impossible task to retain their current status at the end of the season so it should prove an interesting contest as Rovers strive to keep up with the leaders in League 1.

As previously mentioned in this column the Annual general Meeting of the Supporters Club takes place here in the stadium at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 31st. We will publish full details on our website very shortly and hope to have same available in time for next Saturday’s game here with Portsmouth. The Agenda, Minutes of the last AGM and the relevant reports will all be available on the website but for those who are not on line then you can apply for copies from our cabin in the car park. For this year it is essential that members bring their current membership cards with them on the evening as there will not be a register this time. No card, no entry!
