Jim’s Jottings

Welcome all to another tough home game with the visit of ‘Pompey’ and the return of Lee Brown, unlikely scorer of ‘that goal’ back in 2015 and Ellis Harrison scorer the of so important equaliser against Grimsby Town at Wembley.

These notes were penned before last Tuesday’s encounter here with a revitalised Bolton Wanderers and let’s hope it was a return to winning ways after a first defeat in ten at Doncaster. Portsmouth were expected to be one of the clubs leading the table by now and I’m sure they will prove as hard as ever for Rovers to overcome this afternoon. Get behind those boys in blue and perhaps they can!

Proud Sponsors

The previous week proved a good one for a couple of the Supporters Club-sponsored Rovers’ teams, oddly enough against the same opposition club. On Tuesday, 15th, the rain held off long enough for the Development Squad to defeat Forest Green Rovers 4-1 at Yate Town’s Lodge Road ground and then last Sunday there was a big crowd at the Lockleaze to witness an even finer win for the Bristol Rovers WFC in the GFA Trophy.

No weather problems on the G4 surface at Lockleaze for a home debut, thanks to a switch of venue for the Women and they certainly did not disappoint, crushing their higher division visitors 7-0 to the delight of a packed Sports Centre verandah. Seven goals, a ‘clean sheet’ and a continuing 100% record was a great way for the women to belatedly start their home campaign and long may it continue as the team strive to win promotion in their very first season.

Annual General Meeting

Mention of the Community Trust in the previous paragraph and I am pleased to report that CEO, Adam Tutton, has kindly agreed to be a guest to answer members’ questions in a ‘Q&A’ session immediately after our Annual General Meeting of the Supporters Club which takes place here in the stadium at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 31st.

The Agenda, Minutes of the last AGM and the relevant reports are now available on our website but for those who are not on line and have not been able request by post then we will have some hard copies available on the door. Just a reminder that for this year it is essential that members bring their current membership cards with them on the evening as there will not be a register this time. No card, no entry.
