It seems like an age since we last prepared a Supporters Club column for ‘The Pirate’ and certainly a lot has happened in the six weeks that have passed since we held a home League game here on a Saturday at the ‘Mem’.

We had an exciting draw against promotion favourites Portsmouth and have not suffered a defeat since. We have made progress in the cups too. We will face a difficult replay next week at Home Park of course. Both the Saturday away League games have produced nerve-jangling victories at Rochdale and Shrewsbury so the lads are doing great and have been well-supported on all our trips on the road.

PROUD SPONSORS
……………………………..

Meantime Rovers’ Under-18s have also progressed in the F.A. Youth Cup and I hope we have a big crowd here on Wednesday evening to support the Supporters Club-sponsored lads in a tough 3rd round tie against Premiership club Southampton. Many of those Academy lads are sure to progress through to our Development squad and it is great for us as sponsors to see more players like Rollin Menayese and Cameron Hargreaves step up into the first team as they have since we last wrote. Long may it continue!

Everyone at the Supporters Club is delighted to learn that Bristol Rovers Women’s FC midfielder Jasmine Bull, commonly known as Jazzy B, has been called up to represent the English Colleges national team. Our first international call-up and an incredible achievement for the lifetime Gashead who has just turned 17.
Jasmine says, “It’s a surreal feeling and it’s something that I’ve always dreamt about, so to be a part of the England Colleges National Team with such talented players is a crazy feeling and a complete honour. I can’t wait to get out there!”

Having been nominated Jasmine took part in a regional trial at SGS and a national trial at Hartpury College. She will shortly be off to a training camp at St George’s and in February she will be representing England at an international tournament in Rome.

WELL DONE COMMUNITY TRUST
Bristol Rovers Community Trust is  a credit to our Bristol Rovers family. Five awards in just 18 months goes without precedent. The work of the Trust serves our Bristol Rovers supporters and all in our community so very well.
Ken Masters updates the committee about the work of the Trust at all of our monthly meetings. We know of the sheer volume and hard work put in culminating with the Silver Award at this year’s Football Business Awards. The aims of inclusivity and diversity are spot on. All are welcome into our Bristol Rovers supporting family without any exception so may the brilliant work continue. Well done Ken and the trustees, and well done Adam and the staff.

Jim Chappell.
