Speaking about the youngster putting pen to paper on a new deal, Manager Darrell Clarke said, “I’m delighted that one of our up and coming young prospects has committed his future to the Club – Luke is a player that I’ve got high hopes for.”
The young midfielder added, “It’s nice to get everything sorted early – so I can focus on football. Since making my debut at MK Dons I think that I’ve made progress both on and off the pitch.
“I’m in around the first-team environment which can only help my progression and I can learn from the experienced professionals here.”
Nineteen-year-old Luke, who made his full league debut against MK Dons last season, has been a constant feature of the Development Squad since its inception.
Prior to his senior bow at Stadium MK, Luke had featured in two EFL Trophy games, firstly the 5-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers before the 3-1 loss at home to West Ham Under-21s.
His further two league appearances came last season two following his debut, coming on as a substitute away at Fleetwood Town and Southend United.
This campaign, he has featured in all three of Rovers’ Checkatrade Trophy ties, taking his total appearance to eight.
For the past two years, the midfielder has been included in the club’s senior preseason tours, Portugal in 2017 and Holland this year.
Luke was also an integral part of the Development Squad that claimed the Central League title last season.
