Dear Gasheads,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to what is sure to be another exciting season.

The team are now back in pre-season training and Ben and his staff have been working tirelessly to ensure that the full squad is fully prepared for the new campaign. The six new signings have all settled in well and are looking forward to wearing the blue and white quarters at The Mem.

We have a full schedule of pre-season fixtures planned and we are working with our media team to allow supporters to watch as many of those games live online where possible.

In addition, we are still waiting for confirmation on the final regulations for return to play, including when supporters will be able to attend games and what procedures need to be put in place to ensure your safety.

The situation is changing all the time, however, we will do all we can to ensure that the process is fair and as many supporters get to watch our games as permitted by regulations that are put in place.

With that in mind, we have taken the decision to put season tickets back on sale with first priority given to those that purchased before the deadline on 17th July and then those that purchase now in the secondary window. Season ticket holders in these two brackets will take priority over any tickets that are then sold on general sale on a match by match basis.

We are also in discussions with the EFL to ensure that iFollow access codes can be given to any supporters that purchase a season ticket and are not permitted to attend matches.

However, the main reason I wanted to write to you today was to inform supporters of the recent EFL vote on a new salary cap for the league. This is a process that started a few months ago and I have been part of a working committee representing League One and League Two clubs to develop controls that will help them become more financially sustainable.

Today, clubs have voted on these proposals and have selected to approve the salary cap in League One at £2.5m. As a club, we also voted in support of this cap as we feel that it is an important step to help ensure that clubs at our level can operate in a more sustainable manner.

This is not the end of the road for these discussions, as the EFL has agreed to engage in further discussions with the PFA to discuss any proposals that the PFA wish to make to amend the Salary Cap Rules. The EFL will then consult further with Clubs and should any PFA proposal have the support of Clubs, the EFL will call a meeting to amend the Salary Cap Rules.

In conclusion, I just wanted to take this opportunity once again to thank all of you for your unwavering support during these tough times. Like you, we are looking forward to the new season and we will continue to work tirelessly to do you proud on and off the pitch.

Kind Regards,

Martyn Starnes’
