Former Rovers midfielder Cristian Montano who was released at the end of last season has today signed for League Two newcomers Port Vale following their relegation from League One.

The 26-year-old spent two years at the Memorial Stadium, scoring three goals in 52 league appearances.

Prior to joining Rovers, from Colombian side America de Cali, ‘Monty’ had started his career with West Ham United and went on to enjoy loan spells with Notts County, Swindon Town, Dagenham & Redbridge and Oxford United before signing a permanent contract with Oldham Athletic.

Cristian made his Rovers debut on the opening day of the 2015/16 season, against Northampton Town and scored his first goal for the club in the 2-0 win against Notts County, at Meadow Lane, on 5th March 2016.

He played an important part in helping the club achieve promotion during his first season with us, particularly in the second half of that campaign.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers Supporters Club wishes him every success with his new club.
