As previously mentioned, the Bristol Rovers Former Players Association are holding their Annual Dinner on Friday 21st October.
No fewer than 26 former players have confirmed their attendance and the event has given us the opportunity to work closely with the association as, under our caps initiative, we will be presenting 23 of those players with their caps.
In case you’re wondering why we are only presenting 23 caps, it’s because three of the attendees, namely Bruce Bannister, Frankie Prince and Tom Stanton, who will all be in attendance, were presented with their caps at half time in the Shrewsbury game back in August.
If you remember, we aim to present caps to all players who have made at least one league appearance for the club and all caps presented are available to sponsor. The cost is £50 for Supporters Club members and £60 for non members.
Monday 17th October is the cut off point should you wish to sponsor a cap and you should contact the Supporters Club secretary in the first instance to register your interest. secretary@bristolroverssc.co.uk
Among the players to have accepted an invitation to the dinner are Geoff Twentyman, Jon French, Josh Low, Jim Eadie, David Hillier, Billy Clark and Martin Paul and cap sponsorships are available for them all.
News of other players attending will be brought to you in the coming days.
As always, we thank you for your continued support of this scheme and also for your very generous donations to the fund for Nick Anderton. Donations/sponsorship of his cap can be made by direct debit or cash at the Supporters Club matchday cabin (please see our website for details).
