Norburn suffers FA Trophy Final heartbreak

Despite scoring the goal of the game former Rovers midfielder Ollie Norburn suffered heartbreak after a late Aidan Connolly goal gave York City a 3-2 victory over Norburns’ Macclesfield Town in Sunday’s Wembley final.

Midfielder Ollie Norburn felt that the Silkmen were the better side despite conceding a late goal in yesterday’s FA Trophy Final.

Norburn scored a spectacular second goal for John Askey’s side to level the score just before the half-time break. Despite the result, yesterday’s goal scorer said it’s a hard defeat to take but admitted it meant a lot to play at Wembley.

Speaking to Silkmen Player HD after the game he said: “The defeat is hard to take when we were the better side, playing on one of the biggest stages in world football means a lot to me, the lads and the football club.

“It’s obviously not the result we wanted so that’s hard to take but overall it’s been a good season for us.

“I’m delighted to score; it’ll be one to tell the grandchildren but it would have been better if it had more of an impact on the game.”
