Following an enforced exile from Bristol that was to last a decade, Rovers played their first league gane at Twerton Park on this day in August 1986, and defeated Bolton Wanderers 1-0.

Rovers’ goal came after 17 minutes when a foul on Trevor Morgan by Mark Came resulted in a penalty that Morgan scored with some ease. Rovers held on to their lead, despite the sending-off of Nicky Tanner to send the crowd of 4,092 home happy.
