When he made his Rovers league debut on 22nd April 1989, Paul Nixon became the 550th player to represent the club in league football.

When he returns to these shores, from New Zealand, for the Tote End reunion evening on 6th May, he will become the first former player to receive a cap to recognise his time with Bristol Rovers.

The Bristol Rovers Supporters Club has purchased caps for every player who have represented the club at least once in league football and plan an official launch of that scheme this summer.

Ahead of that, they have kindly agreed that Paul can receive his cap on the night of the reunion as it’s not known when he will next be back in the country and we would like to thank all who have contributed to his travel costs to enable him to be with us on Friday week.

Full details of the Supporters Club cap scheme will be published in due course. All caps are available for sponsorship and we hope to be arranging another date when the squad of 1989/90 can get together again and receive their caps.
