The Supporters Club’s financial support of Rovers’ Development Squad always makes me feel proud when players like Alfie Kilgour and Luke Russe break into the first-team and even more so when, like those two and many others in the past, they have come up through the Youth Academy beforehand.
So I am always on the look-out for the next potential local star likely to put the Bristol (or surrounding area) into Rovers. A week last Wednesday the Development Squad provided the Rovers team to compete in this season’s GFA Senior Cup and they opened in style with an excellent win over Southern League Bristol Manor Farm at The Creek. Lucas Tomlinson struck the second goal and it was truly a ‘worldy’ that would still be talked about today had it been televised. Lucas has already been one of a couple of current Development lads to have been included in Graham Coughlan’s pre-season first-team squads and he is another to have come up through the Academy.
These exciting young players cost money to develop through to the finished article so please keep buying those 50/50 tickets and you can enjoy the fruits of their success here in the first team.
